The Talk behind Interracial Dating

The number of interracial marriages has increased in the United States. In 1970 the U.S. Census Bureau estimates that over 300,000 documented interracial marriages. Census 1992 shows that over one million marriages are interracial.
Interracial Dating.com – What People Think
Dating someone outside your race is controversial for many centuries. At one point Canada, Australia and the United States prohibited all interracial relationships. The origin of these debates is due to its shallow-brained notion that interracial dating.com diluted racial purity.
A university in South Carolina went so far as to attempt a ban on interracial dating students. To justify their ridiculous stance they cited references from the Bible that have been preached for ages to scare parishioners about other races. The Bible never really used the word race. But this did not stop the president of the University of South Carolina students to threaten with deportation if they are caught in an interracial relationship.
Today, many people continue to be uncomfortable about interracial relations. Oddly enough a survey was done in 2003 that polled nearly fifteen hundred Americans to see if they have more or less accepting depending on the races involved. It indicated that they are vehemently against the black / white marriages and more comfortable with Hispanic / White or Asian / White unions. The study concluded that the greatest correlation with attitudes against interracial relationships stemmed from the actual color of someone skin?
Interracial Dating.com – Why It Isn’t Such a Bad Thing
Another study showed that the country is slowly growing approval of interracial relationships. In 1972 nearly 60% of Americans surveyed said they adamantly disapprove of interracial couples. But in 2001 the same survey shows that over 65% of those polled Americans now approve and / or have no problems with interracial dating.com.
One reason for this shift could be that so many celebrities enjoy being involved in interracial relationships. Halle Berry, Academy Award winning movie star and the face of an international beauty product campaign is involved with a Caucasian model. If it raises any eyebrows it is only because of their age difference as opposed to their differences in race. Tiger Woods recently married a Swedish model and Taye Diggs, a Broadway, film and TV star, has long been married to a woman who was not the same race. These celebrities are making it mainstream and tearing down racial barriers every time their picture is in the press.
